SCARY GOOD READS FOR FALL!

We have lots of new books in the SPHS Library, come check them out!
I call these Tricks and Treats for YAs:

The Christopher Killer a forensic mystery by Alane Ferguson.

A 17-year old uses her knowledge of forensic medicine (with a little help from her coroner father) to catch the killer of a friend.

Impossible (a National Book Award finalist) by Nancy Werlin.

Inspired by the ballad"Scarborough Fair", this book by Edgar winning YA mystery writer Werlin tells the story of a teenage girl who discovers her family is under an ancient curse and to break the spell she must perform three impossible tasks before her daughter is born in order to save them both.

Sharp Teeth by Toby Barlow (An ALA Alex Award winner. Alex Awards are for "outstanding adult books that provide teenagers with an introduction to adult literature.")

" 'Romeo and Juliet,' werewolf-style." An ancient race of lycanthropes has survived to the present day. Bent on dominance, rival factions are initiating the down-and-out of L.A. into their ranks. Caught in the middle are a kindhearted, lovesick dogcatcher, and the object of his affection: a female werewolf who has abandoned her pack.

Knife of never letting go (Chaos walking Book one) by Patrick Ness.

"...a stay-up-way-too-late book for readers looking for a combination of being scared and being stirred to gallop to the end..." and a talking dog!

Pursued by power-hungry Prentiss and mad minister Aaron, young Todd, his dog Manchee, and Viola set out across New World (where everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts) searching for answers about his colony's true past and seeking a way to warn the ship bringing hopeful settlers from Old World.

Am enjoying this workshop...and will continue to work on SPHS Library blogsite.

Books vs.Technology?

Does 21st century technology mean the end of books and reading as we know it?
